Under its ongoing efforts and initiatives to further enhance the status of women in Jordan, UN Women’s Country Office has partnered with The Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) to “Support the Submission of the 6th National Periodic Report to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) in partnership with UNFPA and UNICEF.  The report highlights Jordan’s political, social, cultural, and economic achievements in striving to eliminate discrimination against women and in mainstreaming gender into the constitution and legal framework.

Project Goals:

  1. Complete legislative and policy reviews to inform future laws, policies.
  2. Identify gaps in policy and legislation and in social and legal protection of women.
  3. Strengthen national efforts to monitor and report on policy and legal issues pertaining to women’s rights and empowerment.
  4. Prepare and submit Jordan’s 6th national periodical report on the Elimination of All Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) to the CEDAW committee.
