Understanding Gender Dynamics to Inform the Jordan Refugee Response
This policy brief is based on a gender analysis conducted for the Jordan Refugee Response, offering a comprehensive review of evolving gender dynamics across refugee populations in Jordan. Jordan, a host to over 450,000 registered refugees, predominantly Syrians, faces compounding pressures from limited resources, high unemployment, and a significant humanitarian funding gap. This analysis is the result of collaboration under the Inter-Sectoral Gender Advisory Team (ISGAT), with contributions from UN Women, UNICEF, UNESCO, UNHCR, UNFPA and CARE International and was co-funded by UN Women and UNICEF. The data was collected by AWRAD with a team of statisticians, analysts, and field staff, supported by a multi-agency steering committee. The analysis examines four priority areas:
- Economic participation and unpaid work
- Household decision-making and autonomy
- Gender-based violence prevention and protection
- Access to services and reliance on informal networks
