Community centres at the forefront of protection, prevention and response services to vulnerable women and girls in Jordan
Dunya Khalil* and Basma Hamed* are both survivors of domestic violence. Living in a rural area, with limited livelihood opportunities and confronted with the need to provide for their children, they found protection support and counseling services at the women and girls’ centre in Ajloun operated by the Institute for Family Health and UN Women, with the generous support of the Government of Japan.

The Ambassador of Japan to Jordan, H.E. Mr. Hidenao Yanagi visited the women and girls’ center operated by UN Women and the Institute for Family Health (IFH) – Noor Al Hussein Foundation in the city of Ajloun.
The First Lady of Japan, Her Excellency Mrs. Akie Abe, received a warm greeting from the Syrian women and girls working within the UN Women ‘Oasis 2’
The occasion of the visit allowed H.E Mrs. Abe, to gain a firsthand understanding of UN Women’s work and witness the opportunities that are being provided to women through the continuous support of the Government of Japan.
