UN Women joined inter-agency efforts to implement a ‘Two-Way Communication’ initiative on the COVID-19 vaccine at the community level in Jordan. Hadeel Al- Zoubi, Senior Camp Assistant, is one of UN Women’s 40 staff members, partners and beneficiaries who is fighting misinformation, expanding on the ground community outreach, and engaging vulnerable women in active conversation about the vaccine.

Samar Muhareb is the Chief Executive Officer of Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), a Jordan-based NGO she co-founded in 2008 in response to the Iraqi refugee crisis. Through ARDD, she works to promote and protect human rights in the Arab world. ARDD is also a UN Women long-standing partner on efforts to promote the role of women and women-led organizations in building peace.

It’s 10 a.m. and after a two-hour drive, Rawan Majali arrives at her destination: the small, sandy UN Women Oasis Centre in Taibeh, perched atop the sprawling rural hills of the Karak district. Here, as the melodious sounds of music stream out from behind the spartan walls, Rawan jumps straight from the car to partake in traditional dancing alongside the 10 Syrian and Jordanian women already stomping their feet in tune.

Of Syrian and Jordanian descent, Hadeel Al-Zoubi, 40 years old, is the UN Women Senior Camp Assistant at the Za’atari Refugee Camp in Jordan. She joined UN Women in 2013 because she felt compelled to help people caught in the Syrian refugee crisis.
