Dozens of young people from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, opinion leaders and representatives from governments and the United Nations launched today in Amman ( Jordan) a new game app called WeRise that aims to promote gender equality. WeRise was developed by youth and for the youth, with more than a hundred of young volunteers from six MENA countries who developed the game’s contents with support from UN Women.

But for women to seize these opportunities equally as men, we have to tackle the gender stereotypes and biases that prevent them from pursuing or making it big in STEM-related fields.

On March 21st, 2018, The launch marked the recent implementation of the Jordanian National Plan (JONAP) 2018-2021 to activate UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Security and Peace as a key framework within Jordan.
