Under the Patronage of His Excellency Ziad Fariz, Governor of the Central Bank, UN Women, in collaboration with Aya Consultancy, organised a dialogue on an assessment on the financial needs of women entrepreneurs in Jordan. The assessment provides recommendations to governing bodies and financial institutions in the kingdom for increasing financial inclusion of women. The assessment was developed in partnership with Aya Consultancy as part of a UN Women’s programme generously supported by the European Union, through the EU Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syria Crisis, the EU MADAD Fund.

The Government of Australia, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, extended an additional timely contribution to the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in response to COVID-19, and to provide livelihood opportunities to vulnerable Jordanian and Syrian refugee women. Mousa Maaytah, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and Chair of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Women’s Empowerment, launched today the Communications Strategy of the Jordanian National Action Plan (JONAP) for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNCSR 1325) on Women, Peace and Security at the presence of national and international partners, including representatives of security sector agencies. Developed through an extensive consultation process engaging member of the 1325 National Coalition, the Strategy outlines the communications approach that will be followed to build awareness of and support for the implementation of the JONAP.
