Ten years since the start of the conflict, with more than 5.6 million people fled Syria to neighboring countries and Jordan is currently hosting more than 747,031 Syrian refugees. Women and girls have been disproportionately affected by the conflict and displacement, and they are now facing additional challenges due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

On 17-19 July 2016, UN Women Jordan organized a training session on engaging men and boys in preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and in gender action planning. The first two days of the training saw the participation of UN Women colleagues from the region, including from Egypt, Palestine and Iraq. In line with UN Women’s mandate to foster gender mainstreaming in the UN System, the last day of the training was dedicated to UN Country Team colleagues.
