More than 6,000 HeforShe Commitments submitted from Jordan

HeForShe is a global solidarity movement, inviting everyone to take an action on achieving gender equality and be part of this global movement to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality.
Since its launch in November 2014, UN Women Jordan has been committed to spread and raise awareness on the HeForShe movement through various means. Thanks to the precious support of Jordanian young volunteers, 18 campaigns already took place in more than 10 public and private universities in all governorates of Jordan. The campaigns mainly aimed at raising awareness and advocating for having a more gender equal world and mobilizing youth advocates from all over Jordan to commit and take an action.
Jordan has already reached over 6,000 commitments on the HeForShe online platform. Through the campaigns that took place, more than 10,000 offline commitments have been also received and will be soon reflected on the online platform. Al al-Bayt University is leading among national universities, with an outstanding 3,720 commitments collected so far.
As campaigns does not only take place in universities but also in public events all over the kingdom, the latest campaign took place at Ras Al Ain Gallery and Hangar , on 10th-12th of April 2016, during a cultural public exhibition that aimed at showcasing the cultural movements of Jordan. On this occasion, more commitments were made by visitors to the exhibition and more awareness was spread by our youth HeforShe volunteers.
