‘Jordanian women continue to make remarkable progress on women’s rights and leadership, they are a true source of inspiration and at the forefront of addressing emerging challenges. On this International Women’s Day, we are mobilizing youth to promote women’s empowerment in their communities and to realize the promise of a more equal and just future for all’ affirmed Mr. Ziad Sheikh, UN Women Jordan Representative.
This year’s theme for International Women’s Days is ‘I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights’, which is aligned with the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Adopted in 1995 at the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China, the Beijing Platform for Action is recognized as the most progressive roadmap for the empowerment of women and girls, everywhere. Since 2012, the Women’s Film Week offers a unique opportunity for the Jordanian public to see and reflect on women’s issues as portrayed through the work of various national and international filmmakers.
