The Second Jordanian National Action Plan (JONAP II) for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security (2022-2025) builds upon the achievements of JONAP I (2018-2021) and aims to further enhance women's roles in peace and security processes. Developed by the Jordanian National Commission for Women in collaboration with various stakeholders, including UN Women and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), JONAP II emphasizes women's participation, prevention, protection, and relief and recovery in peace and security efforts.
Key Outcomes:
- The security, military, diplomatic and justice sectors are gender-responsive and women actively participate at all levels.
- Women actively participate in decision-making frameworks to prevent and respond to crises, climate change and emergencies (including natural disasters, pandemics and armed conflicts) and ensure gender sensitivity.
- Women and girls in Jordan, especially from marginalized groups, can safely access gender-responsive social protection as well as basic and humanitarian services (including shelter, medical, psychosocial, legal and social protection services).
- Schools, media, religious and community leaders, as well as young men and women, promote gender equality and equal opportunities and prevent violence against women, discrimination and violent extremism.
