Noor Al-Shalabi, a resilient 21-year-old Syrian woman and a devoted mother to her daughter, found relief and opportunity in her journey to Jordan. Having faced the complexities of life, including divorce, Noor embraced the chance to make a fresh start in a new country.
"I am happy that I could safely move to Jordan," Noor expresses, reflecting on the positive turn her life has taken. Her determination to overcome challenges led her to the UN Women-operated Oasis centre, a haven that she discovered through the recommendations of friends who had experienced its transformative programmes, generously funded by the European Union through the Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis, the Madad Fund
"At the beginning, it took me some time to get used to the experience, but things got much easier for me with time," Noor describes. The initial adjustment period didn't put her off, and soon she found herself engaged in the Hairstyling training at the centre. Although she enjoyed her time, Noor wished for a longer duration for the training, asking for more opportunities for skill development.
"Now, I feel that my life has something new in it, and I am hopeful that the future will be better," Noor shares, full of optimism. The skills she acquired during the training not only gave her a sense of renewal but also equipped her for a profession that empowers her financially.
"I have a stronger personality now, and the salary I used to receive helped me to get whatever my daughter wanted," Noor declares, emphasizing the positive impact of her newfound skills on her personal and family life. Her journey at the centre has not only transformed her but has also inspired her to recommend the training to friends within her circle.
"I recommend the training to all women within my circle because it helps with improving our personalities and gives hope for a better future," Noor passionately states, echoing the positive ripple effect of the Oasis centre's programmes.
Noor’s dreams extend beyond personal success; she aspires to become a skilful trainer in the field of hairstyling and beauty, paying forward the opportunities that have changed her own life.
