UN Women Jordan took part in the 4th Annual Celebration of the "Ring Bell for Gender Equality” initiative hosted by the Amman Stock Exchange and IFC Bank Group
For the fourth year, a global collaboration across 61 stock exchanges around the world promoted the “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality,” to celebrate International Women’s Day 2018Date:

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, 61 bell ringing celebrations took place globally from March 5th-13th, UN Women Jordan took part in the 4th Annual Celebration of the "Ring Bell for Gender Equality” initiative hosted by the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) and IFC Bank Group in partnership with UN Women Jordan.
For the fourth year, a global collaboration across 61 stock exchanges around the world promoted the “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality,” to celebrate International Women’s Day 2018. The events are hosted by joint partnerships between IFC, Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, UN Global Compact, UN Women, the World Federation of Exchanges and Women in ETFs, to raise awareness about the business case for women’s economic empowerment and the opportunities for the private sector to advance gender equality and sustainable development.
The day began with the opening remarks from the representatives celebrating the occasion; H.E. Dr. Jawad Anani, Chairman of the Board, Amman Stock Exchange (ASE), IFC - World Bank Group and Mr. Ziad Sheikh, UN Women Representative to Jordan, before 'ringing the bell' at 10:30 am.

Following the bell ringing ceremony a host of guest speakers opened discussions on two topics; “What Does Gender Inequality Cost Us Economically.?” The panelist for this discussion included; H.E. Mrs. Suhair Al- Ali, Executive Chairman of Social Security Investment Fund, H.E. Mrs. Nadia Al Saeed, General Manager and CEO, Bank al Etihad, H.E. Mrs. Taghreed Hikmat, Jordanian Senator, H.E. Mrs. Haifa Alnajjar, Jordanian Senator and Dr. Thogan Obaidat.
Ensued by the second session on, “The Impact Of Sustainability Diversity On Companies Performance.” Speakers included; Mr. Nader Azar, CEO, Amman Stock Exchange, IFC-World Bank Group, Arab Bank, Hikma Pharmaceuticals Company(TBC) and Dr. Samer Al-Mufleh, Social Security Corporation.
